The Amnion Foundation’s human placental microvascular endothelial cells (MVEC) are isolated from full-term placenta. These cells are fetal in origin and form the capillary network within the chorionic villi. Together with the placental trophoblasts, these cells comprise the maternal-fetal barrier and influence proper development of the placenta through autocrine and paracrine signaling. MVEC are established and grown from each donor in both standard culture conditions (MVEC) and under conditions of low oxygen, or physiologically relevant oxygen (MVECPRO2™). The MVEC available from the Amnion Foundation are immunopositive for CD31, CD29, and VE-cadherin and confirmed to be competent for tube formation. We also offer donor-matched cytotrophoblasts and MVEC to support your projects and are available to collaborate with you to meet your research needs.
